Julia Davis
Julia Davis was born and raised in Kiev, Ukraine. After graduating from her school, Julia applied to and was accepted to the world renowned Kiev Poly-Technical Institute (currently known as the National Technical University of Ukraine), where she earned a Masters degree as an Avionics and Spacecraft Engineer. She immigrated to the United States in 1995 and was accepted to study for her PH D at the prestigious Stevens Institute for Engineering in Hoboken, New Jersey.
Science and engineering were threaded with a linguistic ability as Julia is fluent in English, Spanish, Russian and Ukrainian languages and conversive in several other languages. Davis completed a course in basic Persian (Farsi) at the Cal State Northridge and is planning to continue her linguistic studies.
She is also an accomplished classical pianist, having attended a musical school at the early age of six years old and mastered her skills over a decade of training.
In her graduate year of study she began working at the world renowned Dovzhenko Studios in film production where she assisted international co-productions and coordinated with the Department of Ministry in dealing with all aspects of production, film finance, post production, distribution, government clearances, transportation, visas, military and civilian agencies.
Upon her arrival to the US, Julia immediately began to work in the film and television industry as a VP of Post Production, Producer, Director and a produced Screenwriter for Academy Award nominees Burt Reynolds and Charles Durning. She garnered a working knowledge as a Line Producer, Unit Production Manager, First Assistant Director, Second Unit Director and worked as a stunt double for Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie.
Never camera shy, Julia sought out more of her American dream and was featured in numerous print and ad work publications in Europe and the United States while winning a top model spot in the Fashion Magazine "Top Model".
She set her sights on doing more with her educational background and linguistic abilities by becoming an Inspector with the Department of Homeland Security/ Bureau of Customs and Border Protection. She also successfully completed series of tests to become a Naval Intelligence Officer. Julia was hired by the DHS/ CBP (formerly INS) with top test scores (100%) and graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy with honors and special recognition of her outstanding Linguistic achievements.
In 2006, feature film "Forget About It", based on a screenplay written by Julia Davis, won the Best Picture Award at the New Jersey Film Festival. "Forget About It" is a comedy starring Burt Reynolds, Raquel Welch, Charles Durning, Robert Loggia and Richard Grieco. The Director's Cut of "Forget About It", released on October 16, 2005, was selected by the Phoenix Film Festival as their showcase project. "Forget About It" was also selected by the Houston WorldFest Film Festival, Beverly Hills Film Festival, USA Film Festival, West Palm Beach Film Festival, Moondance Film Festival, San Diego Film Festival, Jackson Hole, WY Film Festival, Los Angeles Film Festival and Palm Springs Film Festival.
"Forget About It" was showcased at the first Hoboken New Jersey International Film Festival in 2007, which was co-created by BJ Davis, Julia Davis and Hoboken Chief of Police Anthony Falco (BJ Davis' partner in the film production company Hoboken Pictures).
Michael Paloma aka Michael Ralph Saquella, the actor who played a mobster in "Forget About It", turned out to be a real-life mobster and was sentenced to 10 yrs. in federal prison in 2008.
Julia Davis is now a Vice President of Production of Fleur De Lis Film Studios. She is also the CEO of a Los Angeles based translation/interpreting company, Official Russian Translation.
Julia is currently working on several books. One of her current literary pursuits is a book, “Until It Happens To You”, designed to help government whistleblowers, provide advice for victims of wrongful termination, valuable information for Pro Se litigants and people unfairly targeted for selective/malicious prosecution.
"Until It Happens To You" will provide a unique insight into fighting government corruption and dealing with rampant injustices in the legal system.
